Beauty and the Beast: The Gaps

Beauty and the Beast sure does leave a lot of questions unanswered:

- How old was the prince when the enchantress cast a spell on him?
- Whatever happened to the enchantress, anyway?
- Did her supervisor file a complaint charging her with entrapment?
- How many years went by before Belle came to the castle?
- Why didn’t Belle ever ask the Beast how he became a beast? I mean, she was a reader and thinker. Wasn’t she the least bit curious?
- If the spell had not been broken, would the Beast have lived forever or just a regular human life span?
- Why couldn’t the Beast/prince read?
- Were charges filed in the incident of Gaston’s death?
- What kind of relationship did the Beast have with his new father-in-law, whom he had cruelly imprisoned?

I think we need a prequel.

God Made A Cow Named Horse

One of Laura Marie’s asthma medications makes her hyper for about 20 minutes. So when we had to give it to her at 2:30 this morning, she expressed that hyperness by talking for about 20 minutes. She sat on her Mommy’s lap and told us a long list of things God made: lions, animals, Christi and Mr. Josh, Nathan and Luke, her medicine, cows, horses, Mommy, Daddy, etc.

Her new nebulizer looks like a cow. When she was doing her 2:30 a.m. monologue, I asked what she wanted to name her cow. She said, “Horse.” So she has a cow named Horse.

When she got up this morning, the first thing Laura Marie did was go into the living room and give her cow… Horse… a kiss on the head.

Looking up Sunfest and found this blurb about Kenny Rogers:

“Having recorded more than 65 albums, which have sold over 120 million records worldwide during his 52 years in show business, Kenny Rogers is an American icon in the same league as The Beatles, Elton John and Elvis Presley.”

Got a good laugh out of that one! First, this is the first and last time we’ll ever seen Kenny Rogers grouped in the same company as the Beatles and Elvis. I mean, come on… Second, of the three “American icons” listed, only one of them is American!

How Much Cash You Got On Hand?

Interesting idea! Some company (I can’t remember who–found it online) decided to create a graphic to try to help us grasp the size of our national debt, which is nearly 15 trillion bucks. I can’t understand that number, but this graphic helped me and might help you, too.

The truck, football field, and Statue of Liberty are to give us perspective on size. The big block is a massive stack of $100 bills totaling 15 trillion dollars. Check it out:

Naked in Ocean City

Carolyn just called from the beach, where she took Laura Marie to play this morning. She handed the phone to Laura Marie and said, “Tell Daddy what you see.” And I heard my sweet little two-year-old daughter’s voice saying, “Ha ha, man naked! Ha ha, man naked!”

Carolyn said that every time a guy went by without a shirt on, Laura Marie pointed at him and said, “Ha ha, man naked!”

Victory At CrossWay

We had a fantastic Easter yesterday at CrossWay Church! Everything seemed to go well, and it was such a blessing. The sermon was very well received. It was called “Victory!” and was about just that: we have victory because Jesus Christ has conquered sin and death and is alive!

In the second service, some of the children did an interpretive movement to that good ol’ Easter standby, “Arise My Love.” I’m not often at a loss for words, but I simply cannot describe it. When I found out that it was going to be done by kids ages 4 through 10, and most of them about 7 years old, I didn’t see how they could pull it off. After all, it’s a pretty serious song with some real movement. But they… wow… I’ve never seen this song done so powerfully! In my 12+ years as a Christ follower, I have rarely seen anything so powerful in worship. They executed it perfectly. Perfectly. I was blown away. I didn’t think I’d be able to preach! They got the only standing ovation I’ve seen in 4 years at CrossWay. Simply awesome. Awesome awesome awesome. I was sooo proud of them!

We had a great time with the music, too. We did a new song called “Christ Is Risen” which is a really catchy tune that powerfully captures the joyfulness of the resurrection of Christ.

Jesus is alive! And we experienced Him yesterday at CrossWay!
