Psalm 115:3: “Our God is in heaven; He does whatever pleases Him.”
What a powerful, simple statement! “Our God is in heaven; He does whatever pleases Him.”
He is God, our God. He is not a figment of our imagination. He is a real, actual Being. And He is not a distant, impersonal, aloof God–He is our God.
He is God in heaven–He is not confined to the miniscule dimensions and perspective of our world.
“He does whatever pleases Him.” Two things about this phrase really jump out at me:
First, He is God, so He does whatever He wants. He does not need anyone to advise Him. Whatever pleases Him, that’s exactly what He does. If He wants to do something, He can do it and will do it. He’s God! Sometimes I get frustrated because God doesn’t do what I want Him to do. But since He’s my God, shouldn’t I want Him to do what pleases Him, not what pleases me? In fact, since He is my God, shouldn’t what’s pleasing to Him be pleasing to me?
Second, God is a Person. He has a personality. Some things please Him, some things displease Him. He is not some kind of presence or system–He is a unique Being who has emotions, thoughts, and a will.
He is our God in heaven, and He does whatever pleases Him.
