Whirlwind Weekend Trip to Paragould, Arkansas

What a past few days it’s been!  Thursday morning I found out my grandfather died.  The following afternoon Carolyn and I left for my parents’ house, and from there we headed to Arkansas.  From that time until yesterday afternoon, two-thirds of our time has been on the road.

I can’t write much about it now, but it was a special and memorable funeral ceremony.  Almost all the family was there–everyone made it but two of my cousins’ husbands and their combined four kids.  Here’s a picture of my Hyde grandparents’ seven grandchildren (my brothers & me and our cousins)–I’m the one whose bald head looks extra weird in the glare from the bright Arkansas sun:

After nearly everyone was changed, we captured a shot in a hotel room of my dad and his brothers with their wives:

Carolyn and I are both sick and tired (she was already quite sick before the trip), but it was great to see the family again even under the circumstances.
