With October rolling in yesterday, the boardwalk in Ocean City opened up for bike riding. So Carolyn and I rode the length of it on a nice early-October evening with a cool breeze and dark, rolling waves. It was so refreshing!
It was kind of funny, though, because we rode down to the inlet–and once we started back, we realized we were suddenly getting tired. But of course we had no choice but to go all the way back!
Years ago I read an article where Cal Ripken, Jr. was talking about the importance of staying in shape. He said if you never get out of shape, you never have to get in shape. (Right now I’ve got kind of a pear-shape thing going on, I’m afraid. I could even hear the boardwalk crying out under the weight of me on the bike!) Anyway, it’d be nice to ride the boardwalk without getting jelly legs. Since we had such a good time riding last night, hopefully it won’t be long before we’re used to it.
