When Carolyn and I were at the National Zoo in D.C. last Friday, we watched three different elephants walk across their massive scale. A little elephant went across it, followed by a larger elephant, followed by a massive, 9,000-pound hulk of an animal.
Nine thousand pounds!
Dag.
Here’s a little help to put that in perspective. This 9,000-pound elephant is the equivalent of:
- Two and a quarter of my cars, which is a 1999 Chevy Malibu.
- 1.68 times the entire starting lineup (both offense and defense) for the Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts.
- 1,200 Baby Mallorys (Mallory is one of our new church babies).
- Over 30 Pastor Daryls.
- About 9 or 10 of this guy:
Elephants can eliminate around 155kg of dung in a 24 hour period –at intervals of around 1.4 hours.
1 kilogram = 2.20462262 pounds
341.72 pounds of dung a day
A whole lot of dunging goin on
Ty, that makes me wonder how you can live so close to the zoo!
i see runnung shoes i think, is he running with the bulls?
Dude, that’s funny! Actually, he’s doing a belly flop. He’s a favorite in belly flop contests.
