Freedom!
A couple weeks ago at CrossWay we had our conference minister, Merv Stoltzfus, as our guest preacher. Last week one of our elders, LJ Timmons, shared the sermon. As soon as I can I’ll get those messages up on the podcast site. This past Sunday we kicked off a four-week series called “Freedom.” It’s about Continue reading

Keep Your Eye On the Ball
At CrossWay yesterday we had the second week in our Play Ball! series. The message was called “Keep Your Eye on the Ball” and was about focusing on Jesus. It was based on Hebrews 12:1-3 & 2 Corinthians 4:16-18. The podcast should be up in a day or so. Continue reading

Put Me In, Coach!
We kicked off the new series “Play Ball!” yesterday at CrossWay. This is a triplecord series that we’re doing together with the Gathering Tree, SonRise, and the Ocean City Worship Center. The first part in this four-week series, which we did yesterday, is “Put Me In, Coach.” We looked at how a typical baseball game Continue reading

God Is Powerful!
Yesterday at CrossWay we looked at the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego as told in the Bible in Daniel 3. It’s an amazing story that demonstrates the power of God and shows how we can completely trust God because He is completely powerful. The podcast is now available. You can access it using one Continue reading

Your Tough Questions About God
At CrossWay yesterday we wrapped up the “Tough Questions About God” series by fielding questions that people submitted. Two of our elders (as in church leaders, not just old guys) joined with me in attempting to tackle some of the questions. The questions we received covered topics like the origin of God, what happens to Continue reading

Don’t All Religions Lead to God?
At CrossWay Church yesterday we had the fourth week in our series “Tough Questions About God.” The question for the week: Don’t all religions lead to God? This is actually a strange question because it defies all logic, and we don’t apply this line of thinking to any other area of our lives, yet so Continue reading

Weekend Stuff
Stuff from the weekend: On Friday and Saturday I took a class in the Lancaster, PA area. The course is called Anabaptist Leadership, Polity, and Effectiveness. I’m still not sure exactly what polity is, but it sounds pretty complicated. Our instructor is very good–knowledgeable, funny, personable, and good at both imparting information and facilitating discussion. Continue reading

Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People?
Tough question. But for this five-week series, tough questions are what we’re about here at CrossWay Church. Yesterday’s question was: Why do bad things happen to good people? A disclaimer I made up front in the message yesterday: This question is not only tough, but also quite complicated. I refuse to pretend that I’ve got Continue reading
