The Fat Guy’s Dilemma
Yesterday I went running on the boardwalk with my friend Chris. Actually, to be more precise, I should say I went jogging. When you’re 19 you go running. When you’re 35 you go jogging. Running is what you do on the way to first base after laying down a bunt. Jogging is what you do Continue reading

Why I Should Just Stick to Americanese
Today I had one of my I’m-such-an-ignorant-American moments. Laura Marie and I were at the park and I was pushing her on the swing. Another little girl was on the swing next to her. I tried talking to her grandmother, who was pushing her on the swing, and the woman replied with an accent, “I Continue reading

A Little Clarification
I realized I should clarify something from my earlier post about visiting Salisbury Christian School. The reason I talked about feeling obligated to stick around during lunch was because I was aware of other things pressing on me that I needed to do, not because I didn’t want to hang out with the kid. Just Continue reading

Surprise!
I just got one of the best birthday presents ever. All three morning preschool classes came by my office and sang “Happy Birthday” to me! It was so precious. Childbirth Class #1
On Saturday Carolyn and I had the first of our three childbirth classes. This one was held in Salisbury, and the next two will be at a church that’s right across the street from our neighborhood (that’ll be nice!). The class was from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and there were seven other couples there. Continue reading

Cough Cough Achoo!
Been slow on the blog this week. I’ve been homebound with some kind of sick junk. I just started an antibiotic so hopefully it’ll be gone in time for Sunday. I’m very grateful that I have the kind of job where I can still get work done even when I’m sick and stuck at home. Continue reading

Okay, so this blog has been really slow lately. I’ll try to do better when 2009 rolls in. In the meantime, I’m taking a break for the holidays. Hope you all have a merry Christmas!!!! Continue reading

Mr. Hyde and the Pediatrician
All week I’ve been sick and have waited for it to just blow over. Finally I called the doctor and set up an appointment for this morning. I felt kind of dumb and wimpy. There have been several times in my adulthood I’ve gone to the doctor, but usually it was to get a prescription Continue reading
