Last night Carolyn and I took three little kids to see Alice in Wonderland at Salisbury University, and afterward we went to Dairy Queen.
When we left Dairy Queen I was carrying this three-year-old boy on my shoulders. When we got near the car, he tried as hard as he could to jump off my shoulders. It startled me and I asked what he was doing. “Jumping on top of the car,” he said, “like Spider-Man.” (He’s really, really into Spider-Man. He even asked me to call him “Spidey.”)
Carolyn knelt down to his level to have a serious talk with him. “You’re not actually Spider-Man,” she told him gravely.
Just as seriously, and even defiantly, he looked right at her and said, “Oh yes I am!!!”
