Train Jail Update
Recently I wrote about the Top 10 Ways to Escape from Little Kids Trying to Throw You in the Train Jail. Today I developed a new tactic that proved highly effective: I had two captors dragging me off to the train jail, a little boy and a little girl. When we were almost to the Continue reading

Play Ball! Production Is Underway
This past week I spent a day and a half working with pastors from other churches to film video for a series we’re collaborating on in June. The series is called “Play Ball!” and has a baseball theme. It’s about getting in the game–moving from the bleachers to the bench to the ballfield. Or in Continue reading

Kindergarten One-Liners
This week one of the words that Carolyn’s students are learning is “ax.” She asked one little girl to use the word in a sentence, and she said: “I need to ax to go to the bathroom.” Another little feller was sitting at his desk pouting about something, and when Carolyn tried to talk with Continue reading

A few highlights: “Birds fly.” “Birds have feathers.” “Birds make their nests out of straw and hay.” “Pelicans eat fish in Continue reading

Talk About Growing Up Too Fast
One of the little guys at the Training Station was away with his family in another state for about three months. Earlier this week the kids in his class learned that he was coming back. On the way to school Monday, another little boy in the class was telling his mom about how his friend Continue reading

Baptism!
Last night we had an awesome baptism service at Berlin First Baptist Church! Three churches combined and we baptized about 20 people. The service crossed ethnic, denominational, and language barriers. Two churches were Baptist, while the other was Mennonite. Two were English-speaking, one was Spanish-speaking. Baptizing about 20 people and having everything translated into both Continue reading

Kindergartener One Liners
One of Carolyn’s students yesterday asked her: “Mrs. Hyde, what’s your last name?” Another one arrived at school wearing glasses for the first time. She said to Carolyn: “Mrs. Hyde, my new glasses make you look fat!” Continue reading
